Lately in NC.....

So, we had a visitor last month! Cheryl was here for a few weeks and we had a great time! Kerri, Andy and Lawson were here for a couple of days as well, wish they could have stayed longer! Especially Charles.....he sure misses his friend Lawson who would throw his ball for him in the field behind our house until Charles could hardly walk!!! My friend Sam came over one night too with her dog Copper! Charles loves having play dates with him! They were both happy to sit and let Nana scratch their ears as long as she wanted!

A couple of weeks ago we had a little scare in the form of a tornado! We get them a lot around here but they've never been very close. This one on the other hand was too close for comfort! We knew it was coming and the path it was on was going to go straight down the main road about a 1/2 mile from our house! So we were outside in our garage watching it come (maybe not the smartest move, but I guess we didn't realize how close it was going to be) and we could see things falling from the sky! At first, it looked like it might be birds or something. They started out so high in the air we could barely see them. Then there were more and more and they were falling everywhere in our neighborhood. One landed on our driveway and we saw that it was insulation. The tornado had touched down in a town about 5 miles from us and destroyed some houses. We later found out that the insulation was from those homes! I had my laptop in the garage so we were watching the coverage of the storm. Then all of the sudden they said anyone that was in the Apex/Cary area should take cover in the basement or center of your house preferably in a closet and if you have motorcycle helmets or bike helmets you should be wearing them! This is when Ty lost it! He started shaking and crying and said "why are we out here?! Shouldn't we be praying?!?!" So we went inside, not sure how worried we should be and cleared out the closet. Ty went and got Donnie's head lamp and got in the closet. We were trying to lighten the mood so I started taking pictures to make him laugh. We were lucky and the storm didn't do any damage to our house. Many were not so fortunate and they lost their homes and many their lives.
